Choosing a striker in FC 27 starts with two questions: how much can you spend, and what kind of chances does your team create? A fast runner and a penalty-box finisher solve different problems. Here are the picks to check first, followed by the trade-offs that matter.
Quick answer: The best first buy under 10,000 coins is Donyell Malen. Around 30,000–40,000, compare Harry Kane with Hugo Ekitiké. Near 100,000–160,000, Julián Álvarez, Erling Haaland and Ewa Pajor offer distinctly different options. Dembélé and Mbappé are the luxury targets once the rest of the squad is already strong.
Set a limit for the whole squad before upgrading your number nine. If you are comparing FIFA Coins options for FC 27, work backwards from the striker you need and leave room for his supporting cast. Spending everything on a famous card can make it harder to create the chances he needs.
EA confirmed the worldwide launch on 25 September. This guide covers launch gold cards in Ultimate Team, with recommendations based on official attributes, published guides and early community feedback.

Under 10K coins
Donyell Malen for quick turns and a small outlay
Malen is the first card to check if you want a mobile striker without committing much of your club’s balance. EA’s gold-card profile lists 86 Pace, 85 Dribbling and 86 Finishing, with Quick Step and Technical. His 88 Agility and 87 Balance make him a sensible candidate for short combinations and changes of direction.
There is early player interest behind this pick: a 22 September striker discussion included praise for Malen’s dribbling and finishing. That is anecdotal feedback, not a performance ranking. His 66 Strength and 71 Stamina are the trade-offs, so plan a substitute rather than expecting him to bully defenders for 90 minutes.
10K to 50K coins
Harry Kane for patient attacks
Kane is the clearest reminder that overall rating and pace answer different questions. His official 90-rated gold card has 94 Shooting, 96 Finishing and 86 Short Passing, but only 62 Pace. At roughly 29,000 coins, he offers elite finishing attributes without the premium for pace.
Choose him when your midfield can work the ball into the penalty area and you want a striker who can lay it off before arriving to finish. Skip him if your main attacking plan is a long through ball and a foot race. The same early community thread contains positive Kane feedback, but the useful question is whether your chance creation suits him.
Hugo Ekitiké for a Premier League upgrade
Ekitiké is the more mobile alternative in this band. EA lists 86 Pace, 86 Finishing and 84 Dribbling, plus Finesse Shot and Technical. His Liverpool and France links can help when those players already form your squad’s core.
The limitation is hidden beneath the face-card Dribbling number: 70 Agility and 68 Balance. Do not expect Malen’s sharp changes of direction. Dot Esports’ launch squad guide also includes Ekitiké in a higher-budget team. That supports checking him as an upgrade, but its whole-squad budget is not his individual price.
50K to 100K coins
Julián Álvarez for combinations around the box
Álvarez is worth checking near the top of this band, with little headroom at the 98,500-coin snapshot. His official attributes combine 86 Pace, 86 Shooting, 87 Dribbling and 82 Passing. Incisive Pass and Press Proven suit a striker who helps build moves as well as finish them.
The recommendation is to use him in an attack where the striker exchanges passes with a CAM or second forward. His 87 Agility and 87 Balance also offer a more agile profile than Ekitiké’s. If his price moves above your cap, keep the cheaper striker rather than removing useful midfield links to force the purchase.
100K to 250K coins
Erling Haaland for power and penalty area finishing
Haaland’s 91-rated gold profile brings 96 Finishing, 93 Strength and Low Driven Shot+. His 87 Pace contains 81 Acceleration and 92 Sprint Speed, so the headline number hides a meaningful difference between the first steps and a longer run.
He is the pick for players who want a strong central finisher and can give him space to attack. The cost is 66 Agility: do not buy him expecting Dembélé-style turns. At the 130,000-coin snapshot, he is a substantial upgrade to consider before spending hundreds of thousands more on a different name.
Ewa Pajor for pace and a sharper change of direction
Pajor offers an alternative at a similar spending level. EA’s 89-rated card has 93 Pace, 94 Finishing, 91 Agility and Chip Shot+. Those attributes make her an appealing candidate if your attack depends on getting clear of the back line and finishing quickly.
Her 65 Passing is the compromise. Use her primarily to finish moves, and check that your squad can support her Barcelona and Liga F links. Dexerto’s FC 27 striker shortlist includes Pajor alongside Haaland, Kane, Dembélé and Mbappé. It establishes her place among the leading rated forwards, rather than proving that one is best for every formation.
250K to one million coins
You do not have to spend this entire allowance on a new striker. Haaland or Pajor can still be the sensible purchase, leaving funds for a creator and defensive upgrades. If your current forward reaches good positions but receives poor service, upgrading the passer may help more than replacing the finisher.
That approach also fits PlayxArena’s look at digital football cards: a card’s usefulness comes from what it does in your team. Treat the budget as a ceiling, and name the problem the next purchase must solve.
The million coin targets
Ousmane Dembélé for skills and either foot
At roughly 1.99 million coins in the snapshot, Dembélé belongs in a different spending category. His gold card combines five-star skills and a five-star weak foot with 90 Pace, 93 Dribbling and Finesse Shot+. He is the luxury choice for players who create shooting angles through close control and skill moves.
His 67 Strength and 75 Stamina mean physical battles and late-match energy need consideration. At this snapshot’s price, a one-million-coin budget is still better spent on the cheaper options and their supporting players.
Kylian Mbappé for the premium all round option
Mbappé’s 91-rated gold card offers 96 Pace, 95 Finishing, 92 Dribbling and Quick Step+. He is the premium recommendation for a forward who can threaten space behind defenders and also carry the ball. His roughly 4.25-million-coin snapshot makes him a target for an established squad rather than an ordinary starter upgrade.
There is a clear launch talking point around him. EA’s launch update says Mbappé received the most community votes for Destined for Glory, which also features Alexander Isak. Those upgradeable campaign cards are separate items: do not apply a gold-card price or this guide’s gold attributes to the promo version.

Make the upgrade fit the chances you create
Before blaming your striker, check how you create chances. EA’s gameplay notes explain that through passes follow your directional input more closely, and triggered runs have limited range. An expensive forward cannot fix a badly aimed pass or a run triggered too early. Check the exact card version, preferred foot and squad links before committing.
When deciding whether to Buy FC 27 Players, start with the weakness in your current attack. More pace helps when you create space behind the defence; better passing matters when your striker needs to combine with a CAM. Compare the exact card version on your platform and leave enough of your budget for the teammates who make that upgrade work.
For a small club, Malen is the first check. Kane and Ekitiké offer affordable but contrasting upgrades; Álvarez adds combination play near 100K. Haaland supplies power, while Pajor supplies a faster, more agile profile. Dembélé and Mbappé become worth considering when their particular strengths justify the premium and the rest of your team can support them. Buy the profile that improves your attack, then keep the remaining coins for the next genuine weakness.
